Fillmore And Haight Street Intersection, AWSS, Sewer Replacement And Pavement Renovation Project

Project Update (Week of 12/14/2020)
SFWD is scheduled to begin pressure testing the new line AWSS line at the Haight/Fillmore intersection. Due to the scope of work, the line will be tested in the evening. The work is scheduled for the evening of Wednesday December 16, 2020 at 8 PM and is expected to conclude by 10 PM. On Thursday, crews will back-fill the trench and begin apply temporary pavement to the area. In January 2021, our contractor will return to schedule permanent paving at the intersection.

Project Description
The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission has a sewer replacement and Emergency Water Supply System project coming to the Haight and Fillmore streets intersection. In order to complete sewer work at the intersection, crews will need to relocate the existing Emergency Water Supply System line. The project is scheduled to be complete in January 2021. No work is scheduled between Thanksgiving Day and New Year’s Day. The work hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Weekend work is allowed but has not yet been scheduled. San Francisco Public Works will manage the project during construction.

Please note: Although excavation and pipe installation work will occur during daytime hours, the final water line connection work may be scheduled as overnight work. The San Francisco Water Department (SFWD) will often schedule the final connection work overnight because that’s a period of the day when there’s typically the least demand for water service. The final connection work is typically completed in 1-2 overnight shifts. There may be a temporary interruption to water service during final connection work. SFWD will notify affected residents of any overnight work.

In regards to sewer service, it won’t be interrupted during construction. Please continue to use your household plumbing as usual.

Once the sewer work and Emergency Water Supply system work is complete, crews will begin preparations to repave the intersection. Preparations may include concrete street base repairs and grinding (removal of existing asphalt).
