Chestnut Street Renovation

Project Update
Grinding and paving operations along Chestnut were scheduled to begin on October 9, 2017, but had to be postponed due to a scheduling conflict. We'll need to further coordinate upcoming paving operations with Muni. We'll re-notify neighbors once the work is rescheduled.
Upcoming Overnight Work
Starting October 22, 2017, the contractor will begin performing overnight work at the Fillmore and Chestnut Street intersection. The work will be low-impact overnight work and will include Muni Overhead Contact System (OCS) wire replacement, relocation and/or re-adjustment. The work will be performed overnight to ensure the safety of workers near the Muni wires and to minimize any disruptions to traffic and Muni service. The work was originally scheduled for August but was postponed until October.
The overnight work hours will typically be Sunday night to Friday morning from 10 PM to 5 AM.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused by the overnight work.
Project Description
San Francisco Public Works has contracted Bauman Landscape and Construction, Inc., to complete work on the Chestnut Street Pavement Renovation and Muni Forward Project. The work to be performed will be on Chestnut Street between Lyon Street and Van Ness Avenue and also on Fillmore Street near the Chestnut Street intersection. The scope of work will include; curb ramps and transit bulbs, bus pads, catch-basin relocation, some sewer lateral replacement, Auxiliary Water Supply System work (AWSS), Muni Overhead Contact System (OCS) work, traffic signal work, street base repairs and repaving.
The overall project is anticipated to take 18 months to complete. However, due to the scope of work and span of the project, it may be weeks or months before we begin construction on a block.
Chestnut Street, between Divisadero and Pierce streets, will not be repaved curb-to-curb as part of this project. Those blocks are in good condition however we'll still need to perform localized base/paving repairs. These blocks will include some of the aforementioned work. Also, Chestnut Street between Franklin St. and Gough St. will not be repaved as part of this project. That block was repaved a few years ago and is in good condition.
Project Limits
The project limits are Chestnut Street from Lyon Street to Van Ness Avenue.
