Other Services A-Z

Our A-Z page includes many of our other services, projects, activities and topics of interest that don’t easily fall into our main categories. If you can’t find it here, please contact us.

Trees and Plants

SF Public Works plants and maintains street trees, issues planting and removal permits to residents, and provides emergency tree response.

Storm Preparation

San Francisco winter storms can cause floods, landslides, uprooted trees, and downed or broken utility lines in almost any neighborhood. The City and County of San Francisco has prepared safety tips to help you have a safe winter and protect yourself and your property. For all emergencies, call 911. To report downed tree limbs, clogged catch basins or localized flooding, call 311.

How to prepare for the next storm

  • Be aware of low-elevation spots that could flood.

Recycling and Refuse Collection

We work non-stop to remove litter and abandoned materials from our streets and sidewalks to keep them safe and clean for the public.  We also partner with Recology to provide bulky item and litter receptacle services in addition to their regularly scheduled refuse pickups.

Public Toilets

Learn about our Pit Stop program, which provides clean and safe public toilets, sinks, used needle receptacles and dog waste stations in San Francisco's most impacted neighborhoods.

Graffiti

San Francisco spends more than $20 million annually on graffiti cleanup. Public Works with local agencies and community partners to prevent graffiti, helps people remove it quickly, and provides programs and rewards for people who want to get involved. Remember, rapid removal is your best defense against graffiti vandalism. This page will help you learn about what the city is doing and what you can do to make San Francisco a graffiti-free city.
