Reason(s) for Tree Removal:  4003 3rd Street, removal permit 794893, staff approved the removal of one significant tree with replacement, Tree ID 272291 located at 1635 X Galvez Avenue (Sam Jordans Way).  Applicant originally applied to remove tree after safety concerns and a few horizontal limbs failed in the fall. Tree is overall in fair condition, but site to be altered including a new fence set inwards at property line and entry door for ADA accessibility.  The tree's large trunk girth and multiple trunks ultimately reduce the operating potential and utilization of the space for outdoor eating. Several horizontal stems require pruning and removal for access into the rear entry. The trunk is starting to be being girdled by the fence. The permit owner, though advised by neighbors to take action into their own hands and cut down tree, has tried to follow all City requirements by the book. The new owners will plant two new street trees and replace one significant tree with an approved species.
