Reason(s) for Tree Removal: Removal of one (1) street tree with replacement by the property owner, for the installation of a garage and driveway/curb cut (permit 795064). The existing tree species is a purple leaf plum (Prunus cerasifera 'Krauter vesuvius'), and the replacement tree will be at least a 36" box size tree or appraised value, whichever is the greater of the two. Our ordinance requires the following: "Replacement Value" shall mean the actual cost to the Department of replacing a tree or landscape material removed or destroyed with a comparable size and species of tree or with comparable landscape material. Certain trees or landscape material, because of their size, species or historical significance, cannot be replaced from available nursery stock. In such case, "replacement value" shall be determined pursuant to the valuation formula adopted by the International Society of Arboriculture, as amended from time to time, plus the Department's actual costs to replace the tree. Staff confimred that there is room to plant the required replacement tree.
