Various Locations Pavement Renovation and Sewer Replacement No. 60

San Francisco Public Works has contracted with Precision Engineering Inc. to install new sewer utilities and renovate the roadway at various locations in San Francisco as part of the Various Locations Pavement Renovation and Sewer Replacement Project No. 60 (VL60). We will be performing this work in the Pacific Heights, Anza Vista, Western Addition, Cathedral Hill, Telegraph Hill, Inner Sunset and Outer Sunset neighborhoods.

We have inspected the sewer facilities of all the blocks listed below, and will be replacing those that we found to be cracked and/or broken.  Replacing these pipes now will prevent possible collapse of the sewer mains and pavement in the future. Sewer service will not be interrupted during the construction.

This project will include sewer main replacement, curb ramp installation, street base repairs and repaving. Work hours will vary by location, however, typical working hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Weekend work is allowed but has not been scheduled at this time.

Starting Tuesday, July 16, San Francisco Public Works will be re-paving Ulloa Street from the Great Highway to 42nd Avenue. We expect this work to take 3 days in total to complete. The first step of this work is to grind away the existing asphalt roadway surface. Then, we will re-apply 2 new inches of asphalt to the roadway. It will progress in the following order:

Tuesday 7/16: Grind away existing asphalt and re-pave Ulloa Street from the Great Highway to 46th Avenue

Wednesday 7/17: Grind away existing asphalt and re-pave Ulloa Street from 46th Avenue to 44th Avenue

Thursday 7/18: Grind away existing asphalt and re-pave Ulloa Street from  44th Avenue to 42nd Avenue.

7/9/24: Street Base Repair and Re-Paving on 39th Avenue between Yorba Street and Sloat Avenue starting on Friday, July 12th.

Starting on this date, crews will repair portions of the concrete street base on 39th Avenue between Yorba Street and Sloat Boulevard. 6/24/24: Curb Ramp Construction at the Intersection of Presidio Avenue and Pacific Avenue starting on Wednesday, June 26th.

On Wednesday, June 26th, our contractor will begin curb ramp reconstruction at the intersection of Presidio Avenue and Pacific Avenue. The first step in this process is to relocate some of the catch basins at this intersection to improve drainage. Then, new ADA-compliant curb ramps will be constructed at each corner of this intersection - 8 ramps in total. Portions of the sidewalk and street adjacent to these new ramps will be reconstructed as well. In total, we expect this work to take four to five weeks to complete.

6/18/24: Sewer Main Replacement on 29th Avenue between Santiago and Rivera AND Stree Base Repair on Presidio Avenue between Pacific and Sacramento Starting Monday, June 24th..

Starting next Monday, June 24th, our contractor will be replacing the sewer main on 29th Avenue between Santiago Street and Rivera Street. Once the sewer main is replaced, we will then inspect the block's sewer laterals and replace them on an as-needed basis. Sewer laterals are what connect household plumbing to the sewer main. In total, we expect sewer work to take between 3 and 4 weeks to complete on this block. Once all sewer work is complete on this block, it will be fully re-paved. Additional notice will be given prior to re-paving work.

At the same time, crews will begin repairing portions of the concrete street base on Presidio Avenue between Pacific Avenue and Sacramento Street. This includes re-constructing the concrete street base in areas that were excavated for recent sewer main replacement, as well as other portions of the street base on blocks where no sewer work has occurred. A majority of this work will be taking place on Presidio between Washington and Clay Streets.
