PUBLIC WORKS NEIGHBORHOOD BEAUTIFICATION DAYS!

 

Love Our City!

Volunteer at any of the neighborhood beautification days to keep San Francisco beautiful through landscaping and gardening projects, graffiti removal and litter cleanup in our neighborhoods.

  • February 10: District 8 – James Lick Middle School
  • March 9: District 5 – New Traditions Elementary School (Arbor Day Fair)
  • April 13: District 7 – Commodore Sloat Elementary School
  • May 11: District 3 – Joe DiMaggio Playground  
  • June 22: District 11 – James Denman Middle School
  • July 20: District 2 – Sherman Elementary School
  • August 17: District 6 – SF Public Works Street Tree Nursery at 415 Fifth Street (Open House)  
  • September 21: District 10 – Bayview KC Playground  
  • October 19: District 4 – Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary School
  • November 9: District 9 – Dr Martin Luther King Jr Middle School   


What to Expect

  • Volunteers arrive at the kickoff location between 8:30 AM and 9 AM and sign in.
  • We’ll hold a short speaking program to go over the day’s activities and get a quick safety overview.
  • Volunteers and Public Works staff then will head to their assigned work sites.
  • Work will take place for about 3 hours, with everyone returning to the kickoff location around noon.


What to Wear/Bring

  • Wear closed toe shoes and sunscreen
  • Bring a bottle of water


Free Compost

  • Public Works is partnering with SF Environment and SFUSD to bring free compost to you. Free compost will be available at select NBD events. No need to volunteer or register. Sign up here for email alerts of future "Free Compost" events.
