Sanitation and Streets Commission

Thomas Harrison worked as a gardener for the Recreation and Park Department for 28 years. Harrison was appointed by Mayor Newsom to the Recreation and Park Commission and reappointed by Mayor Lee until August 19, 2020. While on the Recreation and Park Commission, Commissioner Harrison supported refurbishing parks, squares, and playgrounds in underserved districts. Harrison worked with Local 261 to install the Apprentice Program at Recreation and Park Department, a program that is very successful to this day.
 
Harrison worked as a Local 261 union agent for city laborers and gardeners. As a Local 261 dispatcher, Harrison sent members to work on construction sites and ensured that the "Out of Work" list was correctly maintained.
 
Commissioner Harrison serves in Seat 4: Experience in either urban forestry, urban design, or environmental services. Commissioner Harrison is serving a two-year term ending July 1, 2024.
