Reasons for removal:
8 street trees are in poor condition and show signs of major decay and decline.
2 street trees removals due to Jones st parking lot access and redesign, and transformer location: The Jones St parking lot is being renovated to accommodate accessibility requirements for parking spaces and an accessible entrance to the building. Due the parking lot expansion to accommodate new ADA spaces and a new driveway, as well as a transformer that will be serviced by PG&E, the following trees need removal. Trees are also is fair-poor condition and showing signs of decay and decline.
41 tree removals (5 street tree, 36 significant trees) due to approved Brown Building facade work on both Jones St and Chestnut St sides: Several parts of the historic building facade of the Brown building need repair due to cracking and crumbling. In order to access the building facade and complete the repairs, the trees along the building need to be removed and replaced.
16 tree (3 street trees, 13 significant trees) removals due to the replacement of the retaining wall in the meadow: The existing 5’-6’ concrete retaining wall adjacent to the sidewalk is being undermined by several cracks and is at risk of failure. This wall must be replaced for public safety.
Replacements:
All street trees that will be removed will be replaced within the public right of way.
All significant trees will be replaced with trees planted within 10’ of the property line, and thirty-three additional trees will be added within 10’ of the property line.
