Construction Update June 26, 2026

7th and Market Street

Beginning Tuesday, June 30, our contractor will be performing potholing, which involves digging small exploratory holes to locate and verify existing underground utilities before major construction begins. This work helps ensure we can complete future construction safely and avoid damaging underground infrastructure.  

This initial phase is expected to last 2–4 days. It is the first of several construction activities planned in the area, and the information gathered during this work will help determine the scope and sequencing of future improvements

The work will take place in the roadway along the curb line at the corner of 7th and Market Streets.

What to Expect

• No road closures or full sidewalk closures are anticipated.
• Access to nearby buildings will remain open.
• Work hours will be approximately 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• During work hours, a portion of the loading zone on 7th Street will be temporarily occupied to create a safe work area.

This work will be performed by Ronan Construction, Inc. on behalf of SF Public Works.

Note: Construction schedules, dates and durations are subject to change due to rain, equipment breakdown, unforeseen field conditions, existing utility conflicts, or crew availability.

• Clay Street between Polk Street and Hyde Street
• Clay Street between Hyde Street and Jones Street
• Larkin Street between Sacramento Street and Jackson Street
• Leavenworth Street between McAllister Street and Bush Street
• Golden Gate Avenue between Jones Street and Taylor Street
• Clementina Street between 3rd Street and Kaplan Street
• 7th Street between Mission Street and Market Street
• 8th Street between Folsom Street and Mission Street
• Harrison Street between 8th Street and 9th Street * Overnight work (four consecutive nights)
