Public Works Gets Neighborhood Ready for Chinese New Year

Hundreds sign on for Volunteer with Your Valentine Event



San Francisco, CA – More than 300 volunteers have signed on to help clean up Chinatown and welcome the Year of the Tiger on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Pacific Avenue and Stockton Street at 9:00 a.m.

Volunteers from local schools and community groups will join city departments and civic leaders to remove graffiti, plant trees, clean up community gardens and nearby schools; and pick up litter throughout the neighborhood. The Volunteer with your Valentine event closes out a weeklong intensive cleanup effort by city agencies, led by the Department of Public Works.

A Lion Dance will kick off volunteer activities at 9:00 a.m.
