Union Street Pavement Renovation and Sewer Replacement Project

The Union Street Pavement Renovation and Sewer Project seeks to address aging infrastructure along one of San Francisco’s historic dining and shopping districts. The project limits are Union Street between Lyon Street and Powell St (29 blocks).

This project will include sewer main replacement and/or rehabilitation on some blocks, curb ramp work, bus pad installation, street base repairs and repaving along the project limits. Construction is anticipated to start in early 2027 with completion expected in Winter/Spring 2029.

In order to minimize any impacts associated with construction, and to ensure the entire limits aren’t under construction for the entire duration, this project will be completed in segments. A completion timeline will be placed on each segment to minimize the impact. There may be an overlap in segments as work is completed in one segment and starts on the next one. The limits of each segment and the calendar day duration for each segment is still being finalized. We will update this webpage with that information once it is finalized.
