Project Description
Public Works and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) collaborated with the Tenderloin community to developed a new vision for Taylor Street between Turk and Ellis streets to improve transportation safety and livability for all users of this corridor. The Safer Taylor Street project provided transportation safety and streetscape improvements along Taylor Street, including sidewalk widening, pedestrian crosswalks, corner bulb-outs, new traffic signals, and streetscape enhancements such as decorative paving, new street trees and street furnishing.
The project was sponsored by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, San Francisco Public Utilities Commission and San Francisco Public Works. During construction, the project was managed by San Francisco Public Works.
SFMTA implemented Quick Build safety improvements in Summer 2019, including signal timing adjustments, intersection daylighting and enhanced crosswalk and intersection striping .
