San Francisco Public Works will be managing upcoming construction on the intersection of 20th Street and De Haro Street on behalf of SFMTA. This project is a comprehensive re-design and re-grading of the intersection, including reconstruction within the roadway as well as on all four sidewalk corners. The goal of this project is to make the intersection safer, more accessible and efficient for pedestrians, private vehicles and the SFMTA 19 Beach Street bus line, which runs down De Haro Street.

Specifically, this project includes:

• Full roadway reconstruction and re-grading within the intersection, including new concrete street base and asphalt pavement.
• New sidewalks at all four corners of the intersection, regraded to enhance accessibility.
• New ADA-compliant curb ramps at all four corners of the intersection.
• A new sewer catch basin and culvert to improve drainage at the southeast corner of the intersection.

This work is expected to take roughly three months to complete, with work beginning in October 2026. It will require some periodic lane closures, but no full roadway closures are expected. On-street parking will be prohibited in the areas immediately surrounding the work area. Access to adjacent driveways may be temporarily restricted as well. If your driveway may be impacted, San Francisco Public Works or our contractor will reach out to you individually. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
