22nd Street Green Connection

The 22nd Street Green Connection project establishes a green, welcoming link from Illinois Street—home to the Blue Greenway, Bay Trail, and future housing and parks—to the 22nd Street Caltrain station at Iowa Street, and eventually up the hill to the Potrero Hill Playground and Recreation Center.

Improvements include widened sidewalks at corner bulb-outs, replacement of sidewalk paving, full roadway repaving, installation of concrete and permeable unit pavers, infill tree and understory planting, new pedestrian lighting, bike racks, trash receptacles, benches, decorative and painted crosswalks, and bike route markings (sharrows). Together, these elements enhance the vibrant Dogpatch commercial corridor and create a more comfortable, accessible, and enjoyable connection for people walking, biking, and using transit.

Construction on the 22nd Street Green Connection project began in January 2018 and was completed in the fall of the same year.
