Recycle Your Junk and Bulky Item Collection Information

Did you know that it is illegal to leave furniture or appliances on the sidewalk? Sidewalk Dumping can result in citations and fines unless you have a scheduled pick up from a licensed hauler or donation facility.

Did you also know that there are quick, convenient and free ways to get rid of your old junk?

  • Bulky Item Collection is a free service that is offered to all residents in the City of San Francisco at no additional charge (it is paid for by residential collection fees). Both homeowners and rented apartment units are eligible for Bulky Item Collection.
  • EcoFinder – You can also visit the Department of Environment's Eco-Finder to find out how to get rid of just about anything.
  • Gigantic Three Program - Each month during Community Clean Team events, the Gigantic Three program gives residents the opportunity to recycle, compost, and drop off their bulky household items. Residents must live in the district that the Clean Team event is held at. Check out the Community Clean Team page to find out when the events are held in your district.
  • RecycleMyJunk.com is a low cost hauling and clean up service that is offered to residential, multi-family and commercial customers in the City and County of San Francisco. Customers pay for their RecycleMyJunk.com pickup at the time of collection with either check or credit card. Visit Recology's webpage for more information: Bulky Item Collection and RecycleMyJunk.com.
