Reason(s) for Tree Removal: Removal of two (2) street trees without replacement. Removal is necessary to facilitate access to the new City of SF Pump Station in accordance with PUC’s request. Although, these 2 trees can not be replaced at their existing location, the project we have been assigned to construct for the City will include the planting of 21 trees in the immediate vicinity of the 2 trees to be removed. Transbay Howard Streetscape Improvement Project
San Francisco Public Works has hired Esquivel Grading and Paving, Inc. to perform a variety of infrastructure improvements along Howard Street between 4th Street and the Embarcadero. The Howard Transbay Streetscape Improvement Project will begin in early 2026 and take roughly three years to complete.

The ficus tree is in severe decline (canopy dieback), but has very poor structure that is prone to fail: codominant stems throughout the canopy, with included bark, injuries, and decay present.
