Public Works Closes Southbound Lane of Great Highway for One Week, Sand Relocation Project 

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The Great Highway will be closed to southbound traffic only between Lincoln Way and Sloat Boulevard during the week of June 21, 2010.  Hours of closure for Monday, June 21, 2010 are 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and hours of closure for the remainder of the week, Tuesday-Friday, are 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Every year during late spring and early summer, the Department of Public Works relocates sand along Ocean Beach to reduce the amount of sand that blows onto the Great Highway requiring road closures. Motorists are advised to use the Lower Great Highway and alternate routes. Expect minor delays.
