Project Information

The Laurel Village Improvement Project on California Street extends from Spruce Street to Laurel Street.  Laurel Village serves as a local commercial district for the surrounding residential neighborhood.  Our goals are to improve safety; provide a more attractive pedestrian environment; improve Muni travel time and reinforce the neighborhood identity of the Laurel Village Shopping Center.   Construction was completed in January 2019.
 

The $248 million Road Repaving and Street Safety Bond was approved by voters in November 2011. With it, the City is repaving streets in neighborhoods throughout San Francisco; repairing deteriorating bridges, overpasses and stairways; and making traffic, pedestrian and bicycle and safety improvements.
 

The Marina Bay Trail Planning project is an outreach process designed to look at alternative design options for the Bay Trail along Marina Boulevard from Scott to Baker streets. The process includes collecting data about the number of people walking, biking and driving in this section and gathering input from the community about what improvements they would like to see in this area. 
 

The guiding principles:

The Marina Green Bicycle Trail Improvement Project will complete a vital pedestrian and bicycle link in the San Francisco Bay Trail between Fort Mason and Crissy Field. This segment serves thousands of residents, commuters and tourists on a daily basis. The project will improve the safety and quality of experience for all users of the path. Improvements include widening segments of the path, repaving the entire length, removing existing barriers, and accessibility upgrades. The project also complements the repaving of Marina Boulevard.

Lafayette Park extends four full city blocks in the Pacific Heights neighborhood with views of Twin Peaks and Alcatraz. While the existing site offered stunning views and extensive paths, the park features were limited. Our goal was not only to renovate the basic infrastructure, but also expand park amenities to provide greater public use and enjoyment.
 

Originally built as part of the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, the Palace of Fine Arts was rebuilt in the 1960's in reinforced concrete. The Palace is a well-known and popular San Francisco historical landmark. We led the successful restoration of a multi-phase project for the Receation and Park Department.

As part of the bond measure overwhelmingly passed by the voters in November 2000, the San Francisco Public Library is renovating the Presidio Branch Library. We plan to remodel the interior and preserve its historic character.

Renovation highlights include two new restrooms downstairs & a family restroom upstairs, a designated Teen Area, Children’s Room with interactive learning features, more computers, improved downstairs Program Room, new pendant light fixtures, exterior façade & stairs restoration, and more functional and ergonomic staff work areas.

Constructed in 1954 and renovated in 2007, the Marina Branch Library has been experiencing roof and water intrusion issues at the exterior masonry walls. Improvements include waterproofing exterior masonry walls, rooftop repairs, and new roof drainage system. San Francisco Public Works is managing this project on behalf of the San Francisco Public Library.
 

In June 1917, to serve residents of the growing Golden Gate Valley, Cow Hollow, and Marina neighborhoods, construction of the Golden Gate Valley Branch Library was begun at a site on the southwest corner of Green and Octavia Streets that had been purchased by the City for $7,500. The resulting brick and terra cotta Beaux-Arts structure was designed in the shape of a basilica by local architect Ernest Coxhead. Though Carnegie grant funds paid for the building, City funds were used for the furnishings.
