Christopher Simi has over 11 years of professional experience in the public sector, including 8 in government finance. Chris has firsthand experience with the City and County of San Francisco, having worked in the Mayor's Office of Public Policy and Finance for 3 years as the lead analyst for numerous City departments (including Public Works) to ensure that they were adequately resourced to achieve their policy goals. After that, he spent 3 years as the CFO of the City of Philadelphia's child welfare and juvenile justice agency, the Department of Human Services. In that capacity, Simi oversaw all financial functions for a $650M+ organization, including budget, accounts payable, cash functions, contracting, and audit. Since 2020, Simi has served as BART's Budget Director, where he is responsible for overseeing the development, formulation, approval, and monitoring of a $1B+ annual operating budget. 
 
Chris has focused his career on improving the way local government serves its stakeholders efficiently and equitably. He has extensive experience working with stakeholders at all levels, across different levels of local government, and in different policy areas. He looks forward to bringing this background and expertise to his work on the SAS Commission. 
 
Chris currently resides in the Castro and has previously lived in the Inner Sunset, where he also grew up. He has a deep appreciation and love for the City's amazing diversity of neighborhoods, viewpoints, and people. It is important to Chris that all of this diversity is represented and has a voice in city government. 
 
Commissioner Simi serves in Seat 3: Background in finance and audits. Commissioner Simi’s term ends July 1, 2026.
