In June 2014, San Francisco voters approved a $400 million Earthquake Safety and Emergency Response bond – the second phase of the ESER Bond Program. The 2014 ESER bond continues the work of the first ESER bond, which was approved by voters in 2010, to make critical public safety upgrades on first response facilities located throughout San Francisco.
ESER 2014 funded a wide range of projects to seismically upgrade the City's aging infrastructure and enhance emergency response for the highest level of health, safety and welfare achievable for all San Franciscans. The ESER 2014 bond program is comprised of five components: neighborhood fire houses, the Emergency Firefighting System, district police stations and infrastructure, the motorcycle police and crime lab and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
