MISSION STREET CONSTRUCTION

SCHEDULED FOR LABOR DAY WEEKEND

The eastbound lanes of Mission Street between 3rd and 4th streets are scheduled for reconstruction over the Labor Day weekend, with no break in work from 7 p.m. Friday (Sept. 1) to Sunday evening (Sept. 3). Crews will suspend work Labor Day, then return Tuesday (Sept. 5), 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., to resurface the block. A midblock crosswalk will also be repaired.

During the Department of Public Works' project, a minimum of one traffic lane will be open in each direction at all times, though motorists are advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays. Sidewalk access will be maintained at all times, though the midblock crosswalk will be closed for the project's duration. Pedestrians should use the intersections of Mission and 3rd streets or Mission and 4th streets to cross.

The Friday to Sunday work consists of excavating and repairing damaged concrete street base, a bus-stop lane, and curbs and gutters. On Tuesday, crews will strip the old asphalt from the two eastbound lanes and crosswalk and resurface them during non-peak traffic hours.

DPW has hired A. Ruiz Construction for the resurfacing project.
