PUBLIC WORKS AND VOLUNTEERS CLEAN-UP COAST AS PART OF  COMMUNITY CLEAN TEAM

Residents are encouraged to volunteer

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The Department of Public Works (DPW) will host a clean-up along the coast and in the community on Saturday, September 24 by beautifying the coastal area, schools, street corridors, and parks throughout District 4.  Community Clean Team volunteers will complete work on greening and cleaning projects along key corridors and remove litter and debris at one of DPW’s largest clean-up events of the year.

Hundreds of volunteers are expected to attend and work in areas such as Ocean Beach, Noriega Street, Irving Street, Sunset Boulevard, Stern Grove, commercial corridors along Taraval Avenue, AP Giannini Middle school and areas near St. Ignatius High School.  Many of the work activities include painting over trash receptacles, removing graffiti, litter pick-up, tree planting, and landscaping were suggested by the residents of the district. DPW and partner agencies encourage residents to sign up and volunteer for the event. Lunch will also be served.

Recology and Clean City Coalition are providing Gigantic Three services to residents in District 4 on Saturday morning from 8 am to 12 noon.  Residents will be able to drop off bulky items, recycling and compost for FREE at the West Sunset Playground parking lot on Quintara Street, between 40th and 41st Avenue.  Proof of residency in District 4 is required.

The Community Clean Team is led by the Department of Public Works in partnership with other city agencies, residents, merchants and students to clean and beautify San Francisco neighborhoods.  More information is available at www.sfdpw.org.
