Public Works has hired Precision Engineering, Inc. to complete infrastructure improvements on several blocks in San Francisco. This project, which includes ten locations in the Sunset, Forest Hill and Bayview neighborhoods, will inlcude sewer main replacement, curb ramp installation, street base repairs and repaving. In an attempt to minimize impacts to residents, Precision Engineering, Inc. will not work on all locations simultaneously. Construction is scheduled to begin at the first location around mid-October 2019 with completion expected in late December 2020.

Typical work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. however they can vary by location. The tow-away restrictions aren't expected to take effect until 8 a.m. The work days will be Monday through Friday. Although weekend work is allowed, none has been scheduled at this time. Please see the posted barricades for exact work days and hours as they may vary per location.

The typical sequence of sewer work is to install the new sewer main along the block(s) followed by sewer lateral replacement. Once the sewer main has been installed, Public Works’ engineering team will review video of the sewer laterals to determine which, if any, need to be replaced. The sewer laterals are the connection between the main and the sidewalk/curb. Crews will then schedule the sewer lateral replacement work. Sewer laterals are replaced on an as-needed basis depending on the condition of the line. Sewer service will not be interrupted during construction. Please continue to use your household plumbing as usual.

During sewer replacement, driveway access may be impacted while crews work on your block. Please allow extra travel time should crews need to plate over the trench and create a path for your vehicle. If crews are working in front of your house, please let them know a few minutes before you need to exit your driveway. They may need to create a path of travel for your vehicle. We appreciate your cooperation and patience during construction. Once the sewer work has been completed on a block, crews will begin preparations to repave the block. Preparations may include installation of curb ramps at the intersections and replacement of any broken concrete street base. The concrete street base is located underneath the asphalt roadway and will require the contractor saw-cut, remove, and replace the broken concrete.

Locations scheduled to be repaved under this contract.  Not all blocks will include sewer work.  ***Please note:  Construction scheduling is subject to change due to rain, equipment breakdown, unforeseen field conditions, existing utility conflicts, crew availability, or early/delayed completion of work at a prior location.***
