CITY AND VOLUNTEERS TEAM UP TO CLEAN AND GREEN SAN FRANCISCO

Community Clean Team and volunteers to beautify neighborhoods in Districts 4 and 7

San Francisco, CA – The Department of Public Works is joining Mayor Lee, Supervisor Carmen Chu, Supervisor Sean Elsbernd, and over 200 volunteers to clean, restore and beautify neighborhoods throughout Districts 4 and 7. This is the seventh Community Clean Team event of the year.

Volunteers will work on tree care, landscaping projects, remove weeds and overgrown vegetation, paint over graffiti and help clean up litter in residential neighborhoods and commercial corridors on Irving Street, Noriega Street, Junipero Serra Boulevard and Taraval Street.

The Community Clean Team is one of the largest regular neighborhood cleanup events in San Francisco. The volunteer program partners city agencies with residents, merchants and students to clean and beautify neighborhoods.

In partnership with the Clean City Coalition and Recology, residents living in Districts 4 and 7 will have the opportunity to properly dispose of unwanted household bulky items for FREE starting at 8 am at the West Sunset Playground parking lot in District 4 and the 2900 block of Ocean Avenue in District 7.

Recology will also be giving away up to 5 gallons of free, premium compost for urban gardens at the West Sunset Playground parking lot in District 4 and the Sunset Circle Parking Lot (Lake Merced and Sunset) in District 7.
