CITY AND VOLUNTEERS PARTNER TO CLEAN DISTRICT 10

Around 300 volunteers to participate in beautifying the community

 

San Francisco, CA—Community volunteers will be joined by Mayor Edwin M. Lee, District 10 Supervisor Malia Cohen, Department of Public Works, residents, other City agencies and partners on Saturday, July 16 at 9 AM at Candlestick Park Gate A, to clean neighborhood streets, parks, plazas and ensure the community is clean, green and graffiti free.

Volunteers will abate litter, paint out graffiti, clean tree basins, remove weeds and distribute wood chips around the district. Lunch will be served to volunteers courtesy of the San Francisco 49ers. To volunteer: call 641-2600, email volunteer@sfdpw.org or visitwww.sfdpw.org.

The southeast neighborhood of San Francisco is a frequent target for illegal dumping activity and to address this issue, Recology and its subsidiary the Sunset Scavenger Company is providing Gigantic Three services to residents in District 10 on Saturday morning from 8 am to 12 noon at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School at 350 Girard Street. Residents can schedule an appointment to drop off unwanted household items for proper disposal. Most items are recycled and composted. Proof of residency in District 10 is required. Residents can call (415) 330-1300 to schedule an appointment.
