City Kicks Off Annual Community Clean Team Program

Over 200 volunteers will clean and green District Six

San Francisco, Ca – The Community Clean Team, a citywide volunteer program, will kick off the 2007 program year on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 9 AM at United Nations Plaza. Over 200 volunteers will work on projects to keep San Francisco clean, green and graffiti free.

To date, more than 25,000 volunteers have contributed their time to the Community Clean Team, a public/private partnership that brings together City resources and the community to help clean and green neighborhoods, parks and schools. The program is run by the Department of Public Works, SF Clean City and the Recreation and Parks Department. This year, the Clean Team will partner with SF Connect's Green Connect to increase the number of volunteers who will plant trees and tend to our green spaces.

On Saturday, volunteers will help paint out graffiti, clean up tree basins, plant trees, pick up litter and clean streets and alleys throughout District Six.

Golden Gate Disposal and Recycling Company is providing Gigantic Three services to residents in District 6 from 8 am to 12 noon to help them recycle, compost and drop off household bulky items. The location is 900 7th Street at Townsend. Proof of residency in District 6 required.
