DPW Delivers World-Class Community Branch Libraries

Two new branch libraries have been completed under DPW's supervision and are now providing San Franciscans world-class neighborhood libraries. DPW is proud to design and manage the renovation of Eureka Valley/Harvey Milk Memorial Branch Library, and also to oversee the construction of the brand new Ingleside Branch Library.

Eureka Valley/Harvey Milk Memorial Branch Library was completed on time and on budget and celebrated its re-opening on October 24, 2009. The updating of this branch created a very welcoming, open and comfortable space that is expected to be well used by the community for years to come. The renovated and expanded library is a wonderful tribute to the legacy of its namesake Harvey Milk.

Hundreds of community residents celebrated the opening of the new Ingleside Branch Library on September 12th. Designed by Fougeron Architecture/Group 4, the new 6,100-square-foot branch provides a prominent civic presence on Ocean Avenue, adding to the revitalization of this commercial strip. The library is the neighborhood's first city-owned branch and is seismically safe and ADA accessible. Highlights include more public computers, wireless access, distinct Children and Teen areas, a program room with after hours community access, early learning features for young children, a beautiful public art sculpture, and a flexible design to accommodate future technologies.
