Winfield Street Sewer & Paving Renovation
Project Information
One of the few remaining brick streets in the City, Winfield Street between Cortland Street and Eugenia Avenue in Bernal Heights will be excavated and installed with a new sewer main, then compacted and secured with new concrete street base, bricks pavers and asphalt pavement. Moreover, plans call for replacement of old sidewalk flags and curb and gutters, landscaping, installation of a raised handicap crosswalk at the Cortland-Winfield intersection, plus two sizeable planters constructed from the old street brick pavers at the same intersection entrance, four brick sidewalk plaques engraved with historical text highlighting Winfield's past.
Project Update
Brick pavers have been installed in the southbound lane. Contractor has remobilized and is installing brick pavers in the northbound lane, opening the southbound lane to traffic. Handicapped crosswalk is being constructed across Winfield Street at Cortland Streets, while development continues on two large planters at the same intersection. Sidewalk plaques have been composed and engraved and are ready for installation. Grinding and paving of the AC segment will follow completion of the street-brick installation.
