Bush Street Paving Project

Project Update

Week of November 28, 2011, The contractor continues work along Bush Street near the Mason Street intersection.

Project Information

In 2010, DPW completed work on Phase I of the Bush Street Pavement Renovation Project. DPW's work included construction of new curb-ramps, street base repairs, and curb-to-curb paving. The project limits for Phase I were Euclid Avenue: Masonic Ave. to Presidio Ave. and Bush Street: Presidio Ave. to Van Ness.

Bush Street from Pierce to Steiner, Buchanan to Laguna, and Octavia to Franklin, was not repaved under Phase I due to sewer main replacement work which needs to be complete before repaving can occur. Replacement of the sewer main requires the contractor saw-cut the roadway, excavate, and remove/ replace the aging sewer main. Work has begun on this phase of construction. Once the sewer work is complete on a block, DPW will repave the blocks curb-to-curb. As part of our current project, DPW will reline the sewer main on some additional blocks. The sewer relining work should prove to be of minimal impact to area residents since this work won't require open excavation and will be contained underground.

DPW has also begun construction on Phase II of the Bush Street Pavement Renovation Project (Van Ness to Battery). Phase II will include replacement of the water main (Mason to Stockton St), street base repairs, installation of curb-ramps, raised crosswalks (Burritt St., Chelsea Pl., & Monroe St.), and curb-to-curb repaving. Bush Street, Grant Ave. to Montgomery St., was repaved a few years ago and will not be repaved under this contract.
