Hundreds of Volunteers Spruce up Bayview Hunters Point Shoreline On

Coastal Cleanup Day




Community to clean up San Francisco eastern shoreline and beautify

neighborhoods throughout District 10


San Francisco, Ca – More than 400 volunteers will join the Community Clean Team Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, September 19 from 9 am to noon at Islais Creek Park, Bayvew, Hunters Point and Visitacion Valley to clean up San Francisco eastern shoreline and beautify neighborhoods, parks and public housing in District 10.

This Community Clean Team event is part of annual California Coastal Cleanup Day, which is celebrating its 25th year. Volunteers will pick up litter at the Islais Creek Park, India Basin Shoreline Park, Warm Water Cove, and other areas along the shoreline. Kayakers will remove trash from the water at Mission Creek and Islais Creek. Besides picking up litter from the coastline, volunteers will remove graffiti, pull weeds, work on landscaping projects in the community.

The Coastal Cleanup/District Ten Community Clean Team is presented by the Department of Public Works in partnership with the California Coastal Commission, Literacy for Environmental Justice, SF Port, Recreation and Park Department, SF Housing Authority, Parks Trust, and various community organizations.

Sunset Scavenger Company is working with SF Clean City to provide residents in District 10 bulky item drop-off services on Saturday morning from 8 am to 12 noon at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School to help them recycle, compost and drop off household bulky items. Proof of residency in District Ten is required.
