Public Safety Building Topping Out Ceremony

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Mayor Ed Lee, Board of Supervisors President David Chiu, District 6 Supervisor Jane Kim and the fire and police chiefs will celebrate the topping out of the new Public Safety Building at Mission Bay with the placement of the final steel beam.

The Public Safety Building will house the San Francisco Police Department headquarters, the Southern District Police Station, and a new firehouse and community center for the Mission Bay neighborhood.

The project is included in the 2010 Earthquake Safety and Emergency Response Bond Program, which City voters approved with nearly 80 percent support.

The milestone beam-raising falls on the anniversary of the 1906 Great Earthquake and Fire.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES: The final steel beam will be raised by crane to the top of the building after it is signed by the mayor, other dignitaries and other community members.
