Sunset and Parkside Sewer and Pavement Renovation Project
The contractor has completed sewer main replacement work on Ortega Avenue. The final paving work has been completed between 24th Avenue and 29th Avenue. Final paving between 19th Avenue and 24th Avenue will be scheduled in the coming weeks. Ortega Street is the last location under this contract.
Please note: While work occurs on a block, SFMTA's Slow Streets Program will be temporarily suspended (8 AM to 4:30 PM) on the block in order to accomodate the necessary work zone. Local access for motorists and bicyclists will still be available. We apologize for the temporary incovenience while we upgrade infrastructure on the block.

The typical sequence of sewer work is to install the main along the block(s) followed by sewer lateral replacement. Once the sewer main has been installed, Public Works’ engineering team will review video of the sewer laterals to determine which, if any, need to be replaced. The sewer laterals are the connection between the main and the sidewalk. Crews will then schedule any lateral replacement work. Please note: sewer laterals will be replaced on an as-needed basis between the main and sidewalk. Sewer service will not be interrupted during construction. Please continue to use your household and business plumbing as usual.
Once the sewer work has been completed on a block, crews will begin preparations to repave the block or rebuild the concrete roadway. Preparations may include installation of curb ramps or bulb-outs, concrete street base repairs, grinding (removal of existing asphalt) and roadway paving.
