ROADWAY CONSTRUCTION ON CESAR CHAVEZ STREET

Some work will take place overnight; motorists may experience traffic delays

San Francisco, CA – Road-improvement repaving work will begin on Cesar Chavez Street next week between Hampshire and Harrison streets, and on Precita Avenue between Cesar Chavez and Bryant streets.

Due to the volume of traffic during the day on Cesar Chavez Street and the amount of time needed to cool down the newly laid asphalt, some repaving work will occur overnight. The nosiest work, however, will take place during the day when heavy machinery is brought in to strip the existing roadway from the concrete base, a task known as grinding.

In addition, drivers on Cesar Chavez Street may experience delays during the construction period.

Monday, Sept. 23 and Tuesday, Sept. 24, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Grind existing surface on westbound Cesar Chavez between Hampshire and Harrison.

Tuesday, Sept. 24, starting at 8 p.m. and ending at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25: Lay down asphalt on westbound Cesar Chavez between Hampshire and Harrison.

Thursday, Sept. 26 and Friday, Sept. 27, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Grind existing surface on eastbound Cesar Chavez between Harrison and Hampshire streets, and also on Precita, between Cesar Chavez and Bryant.
