GREAT HIGHWAY TO CLOSE FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENT
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – On Saturday, April 9, the Great Highway will temporary close to vehicular traffic from Lincoln Avenue to Sloat Boulevard from 6am to 3pm for the Starbucks 40th anniversary Community Service Event. Volunteers will be conducting extensive landscaping along the Great Highway medians as well as graffiti abatement along the Promenade. The closure is necessary to protect the safety of volunteers as they partake in greening and cleaning activities. In addition, the parking lots along Ocean Beach, between Stairwell 21 and 27, will be closed to traffic from 6am – 2pm. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes during this time.
DPW is responsible for the care and maintenance of San Francisco’s streets and much of its infrastructure. The department cleans and resurfaces streets; plants and maintains City street trees; designs, constructs and maintains city-owned facilities; inspects streets and sidewalks; constructs curb ramps; removes graffiti from public property; and partners with the diverse neighborhoods in San Francisco to provide stellar cleaning and greening services.
