PUBLIC INVITED TO EXPLORE INNERWORKINGS OF

CITY'S PUBLIC WORKS FACILITIES

DPW Opens Operations Yard for Public Tours as part of National Public Works Week

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The Department of Public Works (DPW) is opening its operations facilities to the public this week as part of a nationwide celebration of Public Works services. DPW will host the Open House on Thursday, May 21st, from 9 a.m. to noon at 2323 Cesar Chavez Street during National Public Works Week. The event features tours of DPW's crafts shops, hands on carpentry and urban forestry activities, and sewer tours as well as other heavy equipment demonstrations. DPW will also host students from local elementary schools throughout the morning to educate them about what it takes to maintain the City's infrastructure and improve the quality of life in San Francisco.

The public is invited to take advantage of this once-a-year opportunity and check out the inner workings of DPW.
