PUBLIC WORKS EXTENDS PERMIT COUNTER HOURS
Earlier start provides added convenience for the public
San Francisco, CA -- The Department of Public Works’ permit counters are now open a half-hour earlier for the added convenience of contactors, developers, property owners and others who need permission to do construction work in the City’s public right-of-way.
The Public Works’ permit counters are open to the public from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, no new permit requests will be accepted after 4:30 p.m.
The new hours cover the department’s main Bureau of Street Use and Mapping office, 1155 Market St., 3rd floor; and its satellite office at the City’s Bureau of Building Inspection headquarters, 1660 Mission St., 5th floor.
“With the increase of construction in San Francisco and our determination to enhance customer service by making it easier to do business with the City, opening our permits operation earlier in the morning will benefit our constituents,” said San Francisco Public Works Director Mohammed Nuru.
The department issues permits for a variety of construction projects, among them sidewalk repairs, side sewer upgrades and street improvements.
