PUBLIC WORKS FIRES UP TO CELEBRATE THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON WITH COMMUNITY CLEAN TEAM KICKOFF EVENT
More than 400 Volunteers to Help Clean and Green San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The Department of Public Works celebrates the Year of the Dragon by kicking off the first event of the year for Community Clean Team – the City’s premiere volunteer program that has been cleaning and greening San Francisco for over a decade. More than 400 volunteers are expected to beautify neighborhoods of Districts Two and Three by landscaping and gardening, painting over graffiti and assisting in mural painting and installation, removing weeds and overgrown vegetation, and picking up litter.
Entertainment includes performances by Chinese Lion Dancers, a Dragon Dance, and family-friendly activities.
Lunch is also provided for volunteers. In partnership with the Clean City Coalition and Recology, residents living in Districts 2 and 3 will also have the opportunity to properly dispose of unwanted household bulky items for FREE. Gigantic Three events are being hosted at the following locations from 8am to Noon:
District 2: Marina Green(East Beach Parking Lot)—Marina Blvd. at Webster Street
District 3: Portsmouth Square—Walter U. Lum Place at Washington Street.
