PUBLIC WORKS BEGINS MAINTENANCE REPAIRS TO

ISLAIS CREEK BRIDGE

Motorists Encouraged To Take Alternate Routes During Work Hours

San Francisco- The Islais Creek Bridge, on Third Street between Cargo Way and Marin Street, is closed to traffic in at least one direction for Department of Public Works crews to perform necessary maintenance and repair work to the roadway metal deck. Work will begin on one side with traffic open in the opposite direction. After work on the initial side is complete, it will be open to traffic with the opposite side being closed to complete repairs. The project is scheduled to begin this week on Monday, November 14th and continue through Friday, November 18th, with work hours to be 9am to 3pm each day.

Motorists are being detoured around the bridge during noted work hours. Northbound traffic is encouraged to take Evans Street, then right on Cesar Chavez, and then turn back to Third Street. Southbound traffic on Third Street can take Cesar Chavez west, take a left on Evans Street, and then back to Third Street. Traffic controllers and signage will be available to direct motorists.

MUNI Light Rail service will not be impacted. Pedestrian walkways and bicycle lanes will be intermittently closed during work hours for safety reasons. Bicyclists and pedestrians are advised to use the pedestrian crossing at Illinois Street.

The roadway, bicycle lanes, and pedestrian walkways will be open for traffic before 9am and after 3pm each day.
