8th St, Clay St, and Leavenworth St. Pavement Renovation and Sewer Replacement Contract #2308i

Construction Update August 2025

Night-time Roadwork on Harrison Street (Between 8th & 9th) – August 4–7, 2025

We want to let you know about upcoming night-time roadway improvements taking place on Harrison Street between 8th and 9th Streets starting Monday, August 4 through Thursday, August 7, 2025. This work is part of our ongoing commitment to keeping San Francisco’s streets safe, smooth, and durable.

What Work is Being Done?

Our crew will be performing roadway base repair, along with asphalt grinding and paving, to restore the street’s surface and structural integrity. This includes:

  • Base repair: Removing and replacing weakened sections of roadway underneath the asphalt.
  • Grinding: Removing the worn top layer of pavement.
  • Paving: Laying new asphalt for a smoother and safer driving experience.

Why Night Work?

Due to the location’s proximity to a Caltrans freeway on/off-ramp, this work must be performed overnight to minimize traffic impacts and ensure worker safety.
The work is authorized under a Caltrans Encroachment Permit and will take place each night from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM.

What to Expect:

  • Noise: The primary disruption will be construction noise from equipment and machinery. We’ll do our best to keep disturbances to a minimum.
  • No street closures for daytime travel — regular traffic should not be affected outside of work hours.
  • You may have already received notice from our paving sub-contractor, Ronan Construction, who will be carrying out this work on behalf of the city.
