Here is what is happening on Folsom Street:

Segment 3 -Folsom Street 2nd St. to 5th St.

3rd St. to 4th St.

• Remove old 12'' Main line pipe & install new on 3rd St between Folsom St & Clementina St. through 8/13/25.
• Upcoming drainage work on the northside of Folsom at Mabini starting mid-August.

Segment 2 - Folsom Street 5th St. to 8th St.

5th St. to 6th St.
•    no activity

6th St. to 7th St.
•    no activity

7th St. to 8th St 
•    Excavate & Shore for low pressure waterwork on the intersection of Folsom St & Rausch St through 8/1/25.

 

Segment 1 - Folsom Street 8th St. to 11th St.

8th St. to 9th St.

• Sidewalk, granite curb and culvert replacement has started and is active in 5-locations both on the north and southside of this block. It should be wrapped up by the end of July.

9th St. to 11th St.

• Sidewalk replacement will start at Juniper next week (between 11th and 10th St.) working west toward 9th St in the coming weeks.  It will be loud on the 1st demolition day while the crews break out and remove the old cement.  They will make forms, provide plywood ramps, for access and demarcate the space with orange barriers while they complete the cement pours for the new sidewalk, curb and gutter.  This work should be completed within 3-4 weeks toward the end of August.  Our communications outreach team and contractor will continue to reach out in person to all our our merchants to coordinate and answer questions.
• Southside of Folsom Street corners of Juniper St./Dore Alley/10th St. (southside) crews will start demolition and grading the corner sidewalks as well as  curb/gutter replacement. 7/28/25-8/29/25

• Northside of Folsom demolition and restoration of curb and gutters continue through mid- August .

Project Description and Scope of Work:

SF Public Works has hired Mitchell Engineering to perform vital infrastructure improvements along Folsom Street between 2nd Street to 11th Street.  The Folsom Streetscape Project which began in May of 2024 has an overall duration of 2-years, 7-months (950-days).

The project scope of work consists of sewer and water replacement, curb ramp reconstruction, pavement renovation landscaping, street lighting, and traffic signals.  

We are aware of the inconvenience caused by construction and apologize in advance.  We will do everything possible to minimize the impact of our activities on your neighborhood.  If you have concerns (scheduled deliveries, construction questions, accessibility needs, and access) please contact Public Affairs, Dadisi Najib.
