Union Street Pavement Renovation and Sewer Replacement Project

The Union Street Pavement Renovation and Sewer Project seeks to address aging infrastructure along one of San Francisco’s historic dining and shopping districts. The project limits are Union Street between Lyon Street and Powell St (29 blocks).


This project will include sewer main replacement and/or rehabilitation on some blocks, curb ramp work, bus pad installation, street base repairs and repaving along the project limits. Construction is anticipated to start in early 2027 with completion expected in Winter/Spring 2029.

Reason(s) for Tree Removal: Tree has been historically pollarded into a stump and is no longer providing benefits. Decay is present in mainstem and remaining scaffold branch. Location IS replantable.

Reason(s) for Tree Removal: Trees are on top of sewer line which must be replaced for proper sewage drainage from building. It cannot be repaired without destablizing the trees. Due to spacing and the sewer line, only one tree can be replaced.

Reason(s) for Tree Removal: Necessesary root pruning is expected to destabilize tree. Concrete must be repaired due to driveway grade and multiple utility boxes impacted by root uplift. Location is NOT replantable due to utility conflicts.

Various Locations Pavement Renovation No. 85 and Sewer Replacement

San Francisco Public Works has contracted with Esquivel Grading and Paving, Inc. to improve sewer utilities and renovate the roadway at various locations in San Francisco as part of the Various Locations Pavement Renovation and Sewer Replacement Project No. 85 (VL85). We will be performing this work in the Western Addition, Marina, Cow Hollow Laurel Heights, Outer Richmond, Haight Ashbury and Pacific Heights neighborhoods. 

 

Various Locations Pavement Renovation No. 81 and Sewer Replacement

Project Description

San Francisco Public works has hired Esquivel Grading & Paving, Inc. to carry out pavement renovation and sewage replacement projects throughout the city. This project is part of Various Locations Pavement Renovation and Sewage Replacement Project No. 81. This work will include grinding (removing existing asphalt), concrete base reconstruction, and curb ramp reconstruction to bring them up to ADA compliance. Sewer replacement work is included under this contract.
