Spiral of Gratitude is a permanent memorial installation located in the main lobby of the new 243,000 sf San Francisco Public Safety Building. A memorial to honor police officers who have fallen in the line of duty, Spiral of Gratitude encompasses a large glass cylinder, 17 feet tall and 10 feet in diameter, forming an oculus/skylight that frames the sky above. It is inscribed with written expressions of gratitude and loss, gathered from surviving family members and crafted into a seamless, evocative poem.

Hundreds of volunteers shoveled soil, scrubbed graffiti and rounded up litter Saturday in an effort to beautify San Francisco’s North Beach and Chinatown neighborhoods, which got 32 new trees along the way.

The Joe DiMaggio Playground is a two-acre park with a children’s play area, tennis courts, bocce courts, pool building and sports courts. It sits directly next to the newly constructed North Beach Library and will transform one block of Mason Street from a street with vehicular traffic into a public park space. SAN FRANCISCO PLANTS SIGNATURE TREES TO HONOR TWO NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERS

Winner of the 2016 American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Community Improvement Project award!

The Taraval Streetscape improvement project extends from46th to 48th Avenue in the city’s Outer Sunset district.  Taraval Street serves as a local commercial district for the surrounding residential neighborhood.  The renovation will provide a safer and more inviting environment for pedestrians, motorists and transit riders.

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is repaving Sloat Boulevard between Skyline Boulevard and 19th Avenue.  Work began in April 2017.  The project includes the following elements:

The Second Street Improvement Project stretched from downtown San Francisco to SOMA. 
 

The Potrero Avenue Roadway Improvement Project is a collaboration between neighbors and several city agencies (Public Works, SFMTA, and PUC) to improve safety for people walking and biking, maximize infrastructure upgrades in the area, and to help beautify Potrero Avenue. The final design for roadway improvements is the result of five community workshops, valuable public input, and the neighborhood voting for their preferred option for transforming Potrero Avenue.
