We provided project management services during design and construction of the California Academy of Sciences project, which opened to the public in September 2008. The Academy contains a natural history museum, the Steinhart Aquarium, and the Morrison Planetarium. In addition, it houses an impressive collection of 18 million research specimens, which date back to Charles Darwin. The Academy is the largest public LEED platinum building in the world.
Originally constructed for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915, the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium is one of the monumental buildings surrounding Civic Center Plaza. The building was identified as a seismic risk and was included as part of the voter approved 1990 Earthquake Safety Program Phase 2 (ESP2) to be seismically upgraded.
Project Information
Primary purpose under Contract #1639J consists of resurfacing the entire stretch of both Woodside Avenue and O'Shaughnessy Boulevard with asphalt pavement; moreover, the project includes repair of damaged concrete base; installation of new concrete curb ramps, bulbouts, widened sidewalks and traffic medians.

Under direction of the Department of Public Works, our contractor, Esquivel Grading & Paving, Inc. is scheduled to begin roadway renovations on Turk Street between Market Street and Van Ness Avenue. This project will include the installation of new asphalt pavement, curbs and curb-ramps and will last approximately four (4) months.
The work sequence will begin at the Market Street end of the project limits and continue toward Van Ness Avenue completing the project (seven blocks). Each city block will take approximately two (2) weeks to complete.
The Ocean Beach Task Force consists of members for San Francisco Department of the Environment (DOE), Department of Public Works (DPW), National Park Service (NPS), Surf Riders Association, Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), California Coastal Commission, professional engineers and other interested parties.

Super Eco Blitz Summary
The Department of Public Works and other City agencies completed the following work during four Super Eco Blitzes held in August and September 2009:
Public Works is making major roadway renovations along various streets in the Sunset District. The scope of work includes sewer-main replacement, lateral side sewer replacement as-needed, concrete base repair, and lastly asphalt pavement replacement There will be limited parking during construction work hours (7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). Please see signs for exact work days, hours and locations as they may vary depending on the construction task.
